Back to School Barbecue Bash

We are excited to host the first ever Burton Academy Back to School Barbecue Bash on Thursday evening, August 3 at 6:30 pm on our campus! We’re inviting all Burton families, area church members, friends of Burton, and families wanting to share in the fun and check out what Burton has to offer! The night will be highlighted by bounce houses, lawn games, cotton candy, tons of food and fun for the whole family, and the first ever Brisket Cook-off Challenge (because hey… it’s Texas Y’all!) and Potato Salad Competition (because hey… not everyone eats brisket!). Home & School will be providing hot dogs/veggie dogs, drinks and ice pops for all to enjoy!
For the brisket cook-off challenge, we are excited to host a judging panel that will include a representative from a barbecue restaurant ranked in the top 10 in Texas to help judge our brisket participants who will truly earn bragging rights for winning! Brisket and potato salad will be provided for all to enjoy by the competitors (as long as it lasts anyway!). There will be something for everyone, with vegan, vegetarian and non-vegetarian options! This is an event you won't want to miss as we ring in the new school year and enjoy a community-wide barbecue!
When: Thursday, August 3, 6:30-9:00 pm
Where: Burton Adventist Academy (on the blacktop, baseball field, & in Hayes Gym to escape the heat!)… with shuttling provided from the Arlington SDA Church once our parking lot is full
Who’s Invited: Burton Academy families, area church members, and friends of Burton (and those interested in checking out Burton of course!)
What to Bring: Your family’s favorite barbecue dish or side dish with a serving spoon/utensil
What to Expect: A festive potluck-style barbecue cookout, bounce houses, lawn games, and of course…. a whole lot of delicious food, fun and fellowship for all! Hot dogs, drinks, and ice pops provided.

Brisket Cook-off Challenge
Calling all brisket chefs! We are excited to host our first ever Burton Academy Brisket Cook-off Challenge as a highlight of the Back to School Barbecue Bash! Never participated in a brisket competition before? Don’t worry… neither have most (or maybe any) of the other competitors! Bring your brisket, passion for food and good spirit as we have some fun enjoying the art of smoking brisket! And did we mention we will have a celebrity judge from one of the top 10 brisket restaurants in Texas joining our panel of judges! Talk about bragging rights for the winner! Sign up below!
