Burton Adventist Academy Website Privacy Policy

Updated: Oct 1, 2026

Who we are and what this policy covers

Burton Adventist Academy ("Burton," "we," "us") is a private, nonprofit Seventh-day Adventist school serving pre-kindergarten through 12th grade at 4611 Kelly Elliott Rd., Arlington, Texas 76017. This policy explains what information we collect through our website, burtonacademy.org, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

This policy covers the website only. Student education records, enrollment files, and information families give us through other school systems are handled under our Family Handbook and the terms of those systems.

Information you give us

We collect the information you choose to send us. That includes:

  • Inquiry, tour, and application-interest forms: your name, mobile phone number, email address, who referred you, your church, your current school, the grade levels and programs you are interested in (which may include learning-support needs), and any comments you add.

  • Contact, registration, and event forms: the details each form asks for, such as your name, contact information, and the event or activity you are signing up for.

  • Store orders: your name, billing and shipping address, email, and order details. Card payments are handled by our payment processors; we do not receive or store your full card number.

  • Donations: gifts are made through our giving partners' own pages. Those partners share your name, contact information, and gift details with us so we can thank you and send receipts.

  • Voice messages: some pages let you record a voice message through SpeakPipe. We receive the recording and anything you tell us in it.

  • Email and phone: anything you send us when you write or call.

Please do not send student records, medical details, or Social Security numbers through website forms.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, your browser automatically shares some information with us and with the services that run parts of the site. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and the time of your visit. These services use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to do this.

  • Squarespace (website hosting and visitor statistics): runs the site and the store, keeps your cart, and counts visits.

  • Google Analytics (Google): measures which pages are visited, for how long, and from where, so we can improve the site.

  • Google Ads measurement (Google): records when a visitor requests a tour, so we can tell whether our Google ads work.

  • Meta Pixel (Meta, for Facebook and Instagram): records page visits and actions such as submitting an inquiry or tour form, clicking a donation link, or tapping our phone number or email. We use it to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads and to show our ads to people who have visited our site. It does not send what you type into our forms.

  • Bitrix24 (inquiry and tour forms): delivers form submissions to our admissions team's contact system.

  • Weglot (translation): translates our pages into Spanish, Vietnamese, and Korean when you choose a language.

Some pages also show content hosted by other companies: videos (Vimeo and YouTube), calendars, documents and forms (Google), livestreams (Castr), yearbooks and newsletters (Yumpu), designs (Canva), and audio (Spotify, SpeakPipe). When that content loads, the company that hosts it can receive your IP address and set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • answer your questions and follow up on inquiries, tours, and applications

  • schedule visits and send information about admissions, events, and school life

  • process store orders, event registrations, and donations, and send receipts

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here.

  • Service providers who run parts of the website and our school office for us: Squarespace (website, forms, and store), Bitrix24 (admissions contact system), our payment processors, and the email and text-messaging services we use to reply to you. They may use your information only to provide their services to us.

  • Giving and event partners whose pages you use to give or register, such as FACTS Management, North Texas Giving Day, 99Pledges, and Handbid. They handle your information under their own privacy policies and share gift or registration details with us.

  • Analytics and advertising partners (Google and Meta) receive the browsing information described in the section above when you use our site. They do not receive what you type into our forms.

  • When required by law or to protect the safety of our students, staff, families, or the public.

We do not share your mobile phone number or your consent to receive text messages with anyone for their own marketing.

Email and text messages

If you send us an inquiry, our staff may follow up by email, phone call, or text message about the request you made. We send automated or recurring text messages, such as event reminders, only to people who have agreed to receive them.

  • To stop text messages, reply STOP to any message. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.

  • To stop emails, use the unsubscribe link in the email or write to info@burtonacademy.org.

Stopping these messages will not affect messages about a student who is enrolled at Burton, which families receive through the school's own systems.

Your choices

  • Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or browse in a private window. The site will still work, though your store cart may not be saved.

  • Google Analytics: install Google's opt-out browser add-on.

  • Ads from Google and Meta: adjust them in My Ad Center and Meta ad preferences, or use the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out.

  • Browser signals: our website does not currently change its behavior in response to "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals.

  • Your information: to see, correct, or delete the information you have given us, or to stop hearing from us, email info@burtonacademy.org. We will respond within 30 days. We keep some records, such as donation receipts, as long as the law requires.

Children's privacy

Our website is meant for parents, guardians, prospective families, alumni, donors, and friends of Burton. Our forms are for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information through the website, email info@burtonacademy.org and we will delete it.

Security and retention

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information you give us and limit access to the staff who need it. No website or online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information sent over the internet.

We keep inquiry and contact information as long as it is useful for admissions and for staying in touch with you, then delete it. We keep donation and financial records as long as the law requires.
