Ray’s Walk Down Memory Lane
The Jr.-Sr. banquet was just around the corner and after four of us guys (myself, Justin Mascarenas, Ryan and Aaron Long) interrupted Mr. Beyer’s lunch period to ask our dates (Stephanie Gifford, Darla Drane, Eli Williams and Carrie Stephens) out through a rendition of, In the Still of the Night, we had to figure out how to get to the banquet.
Should we rent a limo?
Nah, that would be sooo traditional… and expensive!;)
Why not a U-Haul??!!
With a little help from Mr. Mascarenas, we went with the U-Haul idea for a whole $20 for the night! After decking it out with carpet, pictures on the walls, couches, a table with fresh strawberries, fake bubbly, a boombox for some tunes and red carpet for the ramp, we were ready. Our dates, I think, were slightly in shock when we showed up!
Except for a sharp turn that Mr. Masc took where the strawberries fell off the table (before picking up the girls) on the old carpet (us guys believed heartedly in the “5 second rule’), the night went awesome!
When I think of this story (and others!) with all the FUN we had, I can’t help but also think of the day when Jesus will “roll up” with the BEST surprise of all… Himself!
I can’t wait!
